Morocco II: Algeria so close

The journey to the largest dune area in Morocco – the Erg Chegagga – was a highlight as it was last year. Not only the driver but also Shujaa enjoyed riding over long soft sand passages up and down in “Floating-mode” until we arrived again at our nice overnight place from the last year in the middle of the dunes. Quickly we unpacked our quad Shujoo from the quad garage and the sand dune riding continued – now with about 17 tons less weight which is of course beneficial to the driving dynamics in the soft sand.

After an extensive exploration of the Erg Chegagga by Quad, we went on the next day along the longest desert trail in Morocco from Tamassint, Hi Remlia, Taouz to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi. Shortly before the Erg Chebbi we climbed the Jebel Bega and from there had fantastic views on the erg and the desert landscape to the neighboring country of Algeria. As we approached the Erg Chebbi, the wind got stronger and stronger and we got into a sandstorm.
