3,402 km in 24 days: For the first time, we start our world-tour by driving away from home instead of shipping. After crossing the Balkans, Greece is our first travel destination. We look forward to an extension of the summer with swimming in the turquoise sea and delicious food in romantic taverns. And that is exactly how it is. In the Pindos Mountains we hike to remote monasteries and visit the idyllic Zagori villages with their stone houses and bridges high up in the mountains. The famous Meteora monasteries on needle rocks should of course not be missing. Most of the islands are too small for us, but we visit Lefkada and Thassos extensively and are enthusiastic about the great water. Then our freezer breaks again – this is the second one already but it can be repaired easily. On the Peloponnese we drive through great mountain regions and enjoy the three peninsulas. The Mani region, on the second, is the most beautiful: gorgeous, secluded bays and small romantic fishing villages with the typical stone houses characterize the rough landscape. We drive to Athens via the historical Strait of Corinth to see the impressive Acropolis and further over Mount Olympus to Chalkidiki. In addition, of course we visit Olympia, Mycenae, Epidaurus and Delphi – the most important ancient sights.
